Patricia M. Hancock

MANASSAS—Patricia Marie Hancock, 76, died June 14, 2008, at her home where she had lived for more than 40 years.

Mrs. Hancock was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved to crochet, read and spend time with her family. She was a member of Buckhall United Methodist Church.

As a lifetime member of Girl Scouting, she maintained annual calendar and cookie depots at her home and was a Brownie leader for more than 30 years, receiving the Nation’s Capital Pin from the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital in recognition of her outstanding service.

The daughter of Walter “Doc” and Essie “Tillie” Cary, she is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Russell D. Hancock; her children, Russell “Rusty” Allan Hancock of Drewryville, Edward “Ed” Hancock of Wake Forest, N.C., Cheryl Marie Hancock of Manassas and Patricia Susan “Suzi” Smith of Stephens City; her brothers, Walter Oliver Cary and Paul Franklin Cary; her sister, Polly Ann Wilson; and her 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at Buckhall United Methodist Church on Sunday at 2

p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to either Buckhall United Methodist Church, the American Diabetes Association or Capital Hospice.
