AHOSKIE, N.C.—Elise Riddick Newsome, died June 10, 2008, at her residence.

She was a church member at Newsome Grove Baptist Church, Ahoskie.

Survivors include three sons, Herbert Lee Newsome Jr. of Aulander, N.C., Charles Leon Newsome of Ahoskie and Roger Ray Newsome of Bolivia, N.C.; two daughters, Patricia A. Clark of Murfreesboro, N.C. and Carthinia N. Wright of Ahoskie; three brothers, Charles and Bobby Riddick, both of Ahoskie, and Kelly Saunders of Powellsville, N.C.; one sister, Maurice Riddick Kirpatrick of Greensboro, N.C.; 58 grandchildren; and more than 50 great-grandchildren.

A funeral was conducted Sunday at Newsome Grove Baptist Church, Ahoskie by Richard Smallwood.

Burial was at Hillcrest Cemetery, Ahoskie.

Reynolds Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
