WINDSOR—The Windsor Town Council met Monday night with John Rowe, applicant for interim town manager.

Rowe is a retired city manager of Portsmouth and is applying to the fill the position being vacated by Kurt Falkenstein, who is retiring at the end of the month. The council made no decision regarding Rowe’s application.

In other matters, there were no public comments regarding the town’s proposed budget. Councilwoman Carita Richardson expressed concern regarding the police department budget due to spending as a result of increasing gas prices. She proposed cutting or delaying some Capital Outlay Projects to offset extra costs accrued by the police department.

Council members decided to continue the debate at the next meeting to be held June 24 at 3 p.m.

Kathy Queen, representing the Windsor Women’s Club, addressed the council about the club’s project,“Bucket of Caring,” a drive to help victims of a recent tornado in Windsor, Colo.

The bucket contains cleaning supplies to assist the town in its recovery efforts. The cost to sponsor a bucket is $25. Queen asked the council to sponsor 10 buckets for the cause. The council forwarded the matter to the Public Health & Safety/Streets Committee.

Council members noted that the project was admirable, and that some might be willing to donate as private citizens.

The council also announced that Patriotic Pride Week is to be held in the town June 30 through July 5 in celebration of the Fourth of July. This event is to encourage patriotism and the display of the American flag throughout the community. The celebration received the official support of the council.
