Virginia Parker

SMITHFIELD—Virginia Parker died June 6, 2008, at her residence.

A native of Isle of Wight County, she was the daughter of the late Tina and Johnny Bowser.

Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.

In 1972, she married Clinton Parker in Orange, N.J., where she resided until her health began to fail.

After her illness, she moved to Smithfield, to live with her sister, Alberta Diggs.

Survivors include her husband, Clinton Parker of Newport News; stepdaughters, Tillie Jefferys of Smithfield, Sherell Robinson of East Orange, N.J. and Annette Parker of Newport News; two stepsons, Clinton Parker Jr. and Pernell Parker of Newport News; three sisters, Alberta Diggs, Lucy Tynes and Mary Mitchell, all of Smithfield; two brothers, Johnny Bowser Jr. (Elizabeth) of Norfolk and Lenwood Bowser (Ernestine) of Orange, N.J.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held noon Thursday at First Gravel Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. G.G. Campbell, interim pastor, and the Rev. Bobby Bowser officiating.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Viewing and visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She will also be viewed at the church one hour prior to the service.

Arrangements are being handled by Poole’s Funeral Home.
