SUFFOLK—Charles Douglas Griggs, 48, died May 29, 2008, in Sentara Obici Hospital.

A native of Portsmouth, he was the son of Ruby Leigh B. Griggs of Suffolk and the late Charles Haywood Griggs. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, where he served as an usher.

Other survivors include his sister, Cathy Hope Chaney of Windsor; cousins, Judy Johnson, Jesse Lee Weaver, Linda Eure, Patsy Ward, J. A. Lilly, Gloria Orrock, Debbie Carluccia, Wayne Wiggins, Keith Wiggins and Jackie Matthews.

The funeral was conducted Monday in Liberty Baptist Church by the Revs. David Blevins and T. A. Powell, with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
