CONWAY, N.C.—Lucille Francis Vann, 79, died April 26, 2008, at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids, N.C.
Mrs. Vann was the daughter of the late Nathan and Ruby Banty Francis of Capron.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Walter Frank Ferguson II, Joe Brittle and Basil Leon Taylor; two grandchildren, Katherine Lucille Dampier and Robert E. “Robby” Dampier II; and a sister, Lizzie Francis Spivey.
She was a member of Conway Baptist Church and a former member of the Conway Woman’s Club.
She was a retired canteen supervisor at Southampton Correctional Center in Capron.
Above all, she was devoted to her family.
Survivors include three sons, Douglas Bruce Ferguson and Laura of Woodbridge, Michael Wayne Ferguson and Patsi of Colonial Heights and Walter Frank Ferguson III and fiancee Kathy of Conway; one daughter, Sonja Ferguson Vinson of Pendleton; five grandchildren, Douglas Bruce Ferguson Jr. and Rebecca of Gloucester, Jennifer Ferguson Waites and Kenny of Fitchburg, Wis., James David Achee’ Jr. of Conway, Brian Scott Ferguson of Columbia, S.C. and Travis Ferguson and Connie of Colonial Heights; six great-grandchildren, Christopher Brooks Holloman of Pendleton, N.C., MacKenzie Katherine and Kennedy Taylor Waites of Fitchburg, Wis., Angel Marie, Faith Ann and Savannah Ferguson of Colonial Heights; one brother, Nathan Francis Jr. and Clonie of Conway; and one sister, Helen Francis Gillette of Capron.
A funeral was held Tuesday in Conway Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie McLawhorn presiding.
Burial will follow in the Town of Conway Cemetery.
