SMITHFIELD—Mr. and Mrs. Allen Tippitt of Smithfield announce the engagement of their daughter, Mollie JoAnn Tippitt, to Jonathan Richard McClelland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Villorente, also of Smithfield.

The bride-elect is a 2007 graduate of Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, Ill., and is a first-grade teacher at Hardy Elementary in Smithfield.

McClelland is a full-time student at Southeastern College in Wake Forest, N.C., a school of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, studying history and Biblical studies.

He is the grandson of John R. Darden of Courtland.

Both the bride-elect and prospective groom are members of Harvest Fellowship Baptist Church.

A July 26 wedding is planned at Nansemond River Baptist Church in Suffolk followed by a reception at Harvest Fellowship in Smithfield.
