The front page trumpets: “Extra, extra, read all about it! After a long absence The Bronco Bulletin is back and is alive as ever.”

That’s the announcement on the front page of the student newspaper at Franklin High School which hit the hallways on Thursday morning.

Ah, these kids don’t know what they’re getting themselves into.

The first edition is always a fun experience — meeting challenges they never knew existed, meeting deadlines (well, maybe not yet) and meeting the public with their written words, rather than their voices and their faces.

But students should always be allowed to express themselves, uncensored, while staying between the lines of decency.

Their first effort shows that determination.

Included in the first edition are stories about the school’s famous Problem-Solving team, a preview of an autism walk to raise money and updates on other activities.

There is an advice column, features of student artwork and a column on the Democratic Party’s nomination race.

So kudos to the students and their adviser, Colleen Monn, and to the administration who fostered the publication.

To the staff: Deadline is just days away.
