FRANKLIN-David Foreman, also known as &uot;Joli-D, the Drum Talker,&uot; performed Tuesday at Ruth Camp Campbell Memorial Library.

Joli-D, a longtime percussionist and performance poet, is a graduate of Howard University in Washington. He is the creator of “Rappercussions,” an art form that combines intelligent and educational rap with African-style drumming.

Joli-D, during his performance at the library Tuesday night, involved the audience in his routine. Many of the young boys and girls caught on very fast to his unique style of poetry and rapping.

As Joli-D closed his performance, he invited many of the children to play on his drum.

The Drum Talker was sponsored by the Ruth Camp Campbell Memorial Library and the Franklin Department of Parks and Recreation as part of their series of cultural programs for the community. All artists used in the series are contracted through Young Audiences of Virginia.
