Late afternoon and early evening
If you could select another profession, what would you do?
Something that has to do with my major. I have a bachelor’s degree in English from Christopher Newport and I have yet to use it.
Why do you choose to live in Franklin/Southampton/Isle of Wight County?
I have lived on Isle of Wight farmland my entire life.
Both sides of my family date back to this area since the 1800s.
I love living in a rural community
that is close enough to cities but far enough away so I am able to come home where there are no streetlights or concrete.
If you had two weeks’ vacation and money were no object, how would you spend your time?
Road trip around the U.S. in a huge RV that has all the amenities so we wouldn’t have to stay in hotelsFavorite food: Italian and Japanese, and anything chicken

Nags Head or just being home doing absolutely nothing

Well, I graduated from CNU so I guess I’ll have to go with the Captains.

Be true to yourself.
My grandmother, Mimsy, told me this a few days before she passed away.

Attending and completing college
Which local charitable or non-profit organization do you wish more people would support?
The American Cancer Society and their signature event, the Relay For Life.
This year’s event will be held May 30-31 at Smithfield High School. My family has participated in this event for 15 years and it is close to our hearts.
Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know.
I was the 5th grade Spelling Bee champ - I still throw that around.
What’s your hobby?
Volunteering for the Relay For Life, being the director of the Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department’s Fire Corps program, spending time with family and friends, riding my boyfriend’s motorcycle.
What gives you the blues?
Rainy, cold days just make you feel blah.
What’s the most Southern thing you’ve ever done?
Driving on back country roads at 9 years old — as soon as I could touch the pedals
What’s your best childhood memory?
Walking barefoot through the barn yard, setting up lemonade stands

I love my family and would do anything for them.
What frightens you most?
Clowns
If you could live anywhere else in the world, where would it be and why?
Nowhere.
I am perfectly content where I am.
What last brought tears to your eyes?
While watching Extreme Makeover, a woman and her children were reunited with her husband who was serving in Iraq.
It touched me because the youngest child said, “Now the whole family is here.”
If you could invite three guests - living or dead, from anytime in history - to dinner, who would they be?
Princess Diana, Lucille Ball, and Rachael Ray — she could cook the dinner.
What three objects would you take with you to a desert island?
My cell phone, water to drink, and sunglasses.
What kind of music do you like, and who’s your favorite performer?
I like just about everything but mainly country music.
I don’t have a favorite performer but I have seen more classic rock concerts than most people my age.
Tell us about a good movie you’ve seen lately and why you liked it.
“The Bucket List” with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson.
It was about living and loving life to the fullest with no regrets.
What’s the last book you read?
I am in the process of finishing the book on CD “Shattered Dreams” by Irene Spencer.
It’s her memoir of living a polygamous life and escaping it.

My parents for offering me chances of a lifetime.
