WINDSOR—Christine Emily Xinos, 80, died peacefully April 9, 2008, in Sentara Obici Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Xinos was born April 25, 1927, to the late Joseph and Elizabeth Goodwin in Scotland County, N.C.

She retired from the Norfolk Port Authority.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Xinos, two brothers and one sister.

Her family and friends will always remember her as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her seven children, Linda Crow of Chesapeake, James Smith Jr. of Suffolk, Allen Smith of St. Petersburg, Fla., Peter Xinos of Franklin, Margo Elswick of Windsor, Cynthia Hammerbeck of Jacksonville, Fla. and Steven Xinos of Sedley; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life was to be held Saturday at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home with a visitation to be held one hour prior.
