COMO, N.C.—Wilkins Lee Newsome, 57, died March 28, 2008, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

Mr. Newsome was educated in the Northampton County School System.

Survivors include his mother, Marion Newsome of Como; one daughter, Veronica Little of New Jersey; four brothers, John Newsome of Murfreesboro, N.C., Ivan Newsome Jr. and Irving Newsome of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Nash Newsome of Charleston, S.C.; and four sisters, Priscilla Lee and Phyllis Gnatt, both of Winston-Salem, Sylvia Everette of Como and Bessie Pierce of Winton, N.C.

A funeral service was conducted Thursday at Zoar Missionary Baptist Church, Conway, N.C., by the Rev. Millard S. Newsome.

Burial was in Carver Park Cemetery.
