COMO, N.C.—Ethel Horton Britt, 83, died morning, Jan. 20, 2008.

Mrs. Britt was born Sept. 20, 1924 in Gates County, N.C., the daughter of the late Thomas and Alice Horton.

She was also preceded in death by husband, Guy Britt, two brothers, Nathan and Paul and sisters, Naomi Eure, Tamar Godwin, Lidy Hughes and Blanche Scheett.

Mama Britt, as she was known as by friends and neighbors took everyone as her own to care for and to love. She dedicated her life to the total loving care of her daughter for 57 years with cerebral palsy, Vicki. She was also a homemaker.

Survivors include her children, Pat Marshall and husband Jim of Como, Vicki Britt of Guardian Care of Scotland Neck, N.C. and Guy Britt Jr. and wife Anita of Gastonia, N.C.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at Buckhorn Baptist Church

Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, memory contributions may be made to her church.
