NORFOLK—Vergie E. Copeland, 97, of the 3200 block of Woodland Ave., died Jan. 25, 2008.

Born Jan. 5, 1911, in Windsor, she was predeceased by her two sons, Robert L. English Sr. and Hanee Rasheed.

Survivors include four grandchildren, Vergie Brooks-Williams of Chesapeake, Robert L. English Jr. of Norfolk, Edward M. English of Virginia Beach and Helen Settlers of Norfolk; two nieces, Bunnie Williams of Virginia Beach and Roslyn Becton of Germantown, N.Y.; one nephew, Fred Evans of Blaine, Minn., a host of great- and great-great-grandchildren, great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; a very special caregiver, Roland C. Fentress Jr., cousins, friends and church family.

A funeral will be held today at noon at Union United Church of Christ, 877 Goff St., Norfolk. The Rev. Dr. Linda D.T. Clark will officiate.

Interment will be held in Windsor.
