SUFFOLK—Billy Donald Shepard, 70, died Jan. 28, 2008.

Born in Paint Rock, Ala., he was the son of the late Robert Shepard and Virgie Thompson.

Mr. Shepard was a retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer and a member of Burdette Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Kaye Turner Shepard; three daughters, Donna Spivey and husband Ed, Kathy Huggins and husband J.C., Melissa Turner and husband Tim; three sons, Bill and Bob Smith, and Otis Shepard; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Scott and Sherry Clark; eight grandchildren, Alex Smith, Zackery Shepard, Shyanne Spivey, Kayla Shepard, Jacob Turner, Kelsie Shepard, Jackson Spivey, and Wyatt Huggins.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Cribb officiating.

Burial, with military honors, will follow at Southampton Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to Burdette Baptist Church.
