HAMPTON—Harmon G. Smith, 81, died Jan. 27, 2008.
Mr. Smith was a native of Ohio and had been a Peninsula resident most of his life.
He retired as a conductor from the C&O Railway and was a member of Newmarket Baptist Church.
He was a member of Monitor Masonic Lodge #197
AF&AM, American Legion Post #25 and the Newport News Moose Lodge #1119.
His wife, Constance M. Smith, and two sons, Ricky and Glen, preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Margaret Smith of Smithfield and Janet Smith of Newport News; his sister, Mary Marien of Michigan; his brother, Mac Smith of Michigan; three grandchildren, Casey, Mallory and Michelle Smith; and a nephew, Lenny Poslik of Hampton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Peninsula Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home by the Rev. S. E. ‘Skip’ Hathaway, followed by burial with Masonic Rites by Monitor Lodge in Parklawn Memorial Park.
