James D. Bailey Sr.

FRANKLIN—James Dillard Bailey Sr., 83, died August 27, 2011.
Born September 6, 1927, in Hertford County, N.C., he was a son of the late Robert G. Bailey Sr. and Ida Stephenson Bailey.
He was predeceased by his wife, Hazel Carr Bailey; a son, James Dillard Bailey Jr.; a sister, Ruth B. Dunlow; and a brother, Robert G. Bailey Jr.
James was a veteran of World War II and retired from Franklin Equipment Company.
He was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church.
James also belonged to Forks of the River Hunt Club and Franklin Moose Lodge.
Survivors include a son, Johnnie Wade Bailey and wife, Dee; a daughter, Judy Bailey Cotton and husband, Russ; grandchildren April Griffin and Tommy Lee Griffin Jr., all of Franklin, and two great-grandchildren, Devin and Brandon Spivey.
A graveside funeral with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at Southampton Memorial Park with the Rev. Bill Eley officiating.
The family received friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home and other times at his daughter Judy’s at 34148 S. Quay Road, Franklin.
