SUFFOLK—The Rev. Dr. Linwood Thomas Daye Jr., 46, died Dec. 23, 2007.
Pastor Daye was the beloved pastor of Zion Baptist Church, Newport News.
He was born Nov. 4, 1961, in Mebane, N.C., to the Rev. Dr. Linwood T. Daye Sr. and the late Daisy Rudd Daye. He was a loving and caring husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend.
He was a prolific preacher of the gospel. He was a diligent and devoted servant to the church and the community at large. He believed that his mission in life was to help somebody else along the way.
Survivors include the love of his life, his wife, Antoinette Hall Daye; his son, Aaron of the home; his father, Dr. Linwood Day Sr. (Annie) of Carrollton; sisters, Sherron Donnell (Vernon) of Greensboro, N.C.
and Gwenevere Daye Richardson (Willie) of Houston, Texas; brother, Alvis Daye (Debbi) of Hampton; his father and mother-in-law, Melvin and Theresa Hall of Smithfield; his nieces and nephews, Aliya, Renee, August, Jasmyne, Sylvia, Isaiah, Angela and Te’Yana; his sister-in-law, Shanice Hall and brother-in-law, Melvin Hall Jr.; his very best friend, Oliver Tyrone James and godson, Marcus James; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other family and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 7 p.m. today. The homegoing celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Both services will be at Zion Baptist Church, 633-20th St., Newport News.
Pastor Daye Jr. will lie in repose beginning at 3 p.m. today at the church.
Entombment will follow the service at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk.
