SMITHFIELD—Marguerite E. Edwards, 90, died Dec. 24, 2007, in Sentara Obici Hospital.

Mrs. Edwards was a native and lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County. She was the owner of Smithfield Lumber Co. and was a member of Uzzell’s United Methodist Church.

Preceded in death by her husband, Randal Joel Edwards, her daughter, Frances L. Keen, and son, Charles Randal Edwards Sr.

Survivors include two grandchildren, Charles Randal “Randy” Edwards and his wife Tina and Joyce Lee Upton and her special friend, Chad Morgan; her daughter-in-law, Joyce Edwards and son-in-law, Carroll Keen Jr. and wife Dianne; her sister, Katherine Glasscock; three great-grandchildren, Darren Wesley Upton, Jahn Michaela Edwards and Miranda Lee Upton; and several nieces and nephews.

A life celebration service was conducted Thursday in Uzzell United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kay Barstow Gentry officiating.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Isle of Wight Humane Society, P.O. Box 273, Smithfield, VA 23430 or Uzzell’s United Methodist Church.

Colonial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
