Walter D. Twitty

FRANKLIN—Walter Douglas Twitty, 92, of the 800 block of Gardner St., died Dec. 25, 2007, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Twitty was a native of Isle of Wight County and the widower of Jimmie Twitty.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Franklin, where he served as a trustee and a member of the Franklin Male Chorus, and Family Choir.

He was a retiree from Franklin Concrete and Paul D. Camp Community College.

He also served on the Franklin Beautification Committee.

Survivors include one sister, Dorothy R. Deloatche of Chesapeake; two nieces, Ella (Elson) Johnson and Barbara Twitty; one nephew, Levin (Betty) Twitty; two nieces-in-law, Edith Deloatch and Gloria Twitty; 13 nieces and nephews by marriage; and two very special godchildren, Shannon S. Harris and Michael B. Smith.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 318 Hall Street, Franklin.

Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, Franklin.

Crocker Funeral Home, Suffolk, is in charge of arrangements.
