Bessie C. Hill

COURTLAND— Bessie C. “Tiny” Hill,
63, of 23086 Whitehouse Road, died Dec. 12, 2007, at Sentara Obici Hospital.
Mrs. Hill was born June 23, 1944 to the late Harry and Sarah Harris.
She was employed by Southampton County Schools at Hunterdale Elementary School as an Assistant Manager in the cafeteria.
She loved her school family as well as her own.
She was the president of the VFSA.
She was a member of Bryant Baptist Church where she served in the choir, secretary on the usher board, flower club, and hospitality committee. She had a passion for helping anyone in need and loved the outdoors.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Hill Sr., her daughter Ella L. Hill, and a niece, Natasha D. Ford.
Survivors include her sons, James Hill (Sheila) of Como, N.C., Michael Hill Sr. of Franklin and Marcus Hill of Courtland; one daughter, Nicole Hill of Richmond;
nine grandchildren, Catherine Hill, Chanel Johnson, Michael Hill Jr., Prince Bowers Jr., Stacey Hill, Tracey Hill, Charnese Hill, Daija Hill and James Haskins; four great-grandchildren, Lashawn Hill, Marquis Hill, Deperest Johnson and Kamari Hill; four sisters, Ann Evans, Pearl Ellsworth (Louis), Lynie Joyner, and Carolyn Harris all of Courtland; one brother, Larry Harris (Barbara) of Courtland and a hosts of relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held Sunday in Bryant Baptist Church.
Engram Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
