FRANKLIN—During a period after the regular meeting, several Franklin City School Board members had some comments about things they would like to see on an agenda in the coming year.

The wish list included a visit from the city Director of Franklin Redevelopment and Housing Authority Sheryl Frasier. The request was made by board member Richard Thomas.

&uot;I’d like to ask her to come speak to us in January or February regarding the adult education program going on here at S.P. Morton, so she can enlighten us a little (about the program),&uot; he said.

The new program, Life Skills/Job Skills, gives adults the training they need to get out into the workforce and improve their quality of life. The program graduated its first class of 11, celebrated during the FRHA’s Thanksgiving banquet and 45th anniversary.

Chairman Bill Scarboro agreed and asked it be put on the next agenda.

Board member Robert Meredith said he has been asked about students’ dietary needs in the schools.

&uot;They want to know what are we feeding our children at school,&uot; he said. &uot;I would appreciate having a briefing about what kinds of foods are available to our children and what efforts are being made to give them the healthiest diet possible.&uot;

Assistant Superintendent Rick Clemons told Meredith that he had recently received an update from the food services manager and would be glad to forward that information to him.

&uot;If there are any further questions, we could put a presentation together for you,&uot; Clemons said.

Meredith wanted to make sure the update would include what also is available in vending machines. He also noted that at some point, the public needed to have the information as well.
