BRANCHVILLE—Mr. and Mrs. Kenny O. Edwards of Branchville announce the engagement of their daughter, Meredith Carter Edwards of Newport News, to William Leland Holt of Williamsburg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fenton Bryant Holt Jr. of Hunterdale.

Edwards is a 2001 graduate of Southampton High School and a 2005 graduate of Christopher Newport University. She received a bachelor of arts degree in childhood psychology and went on to earn a master’s degree in elementary education from Christopher Newport University in 2006.

She is currently employed with Newport News Public Schools as a first-grade teacher at Saunders Elementary.

Holt is a 2001 graduate of Southampton High School and a 2005 graduate of Christopher Newport University. He received a bachelor of science degree in finance and is currently a third-year law student at the College of William and Mary. He is employed by the law firm of Kaufman & Canoles, P.C.

An August wedding is planned.
