To the Editor:

Hunting season is upon us again, and as always, it brings a certain excitement to our local hunters.

This hunting season also brings fear into our town of Newsoms for as the hunt begins, our citizens know that there are some inconsiderate hunters that, for one reason or another, get a little too excited and begin chasing and shooting deer within the town limits.

It is for this reason that we would like to remind everyone of our ordinance on hunting which states: “It shall be unlawful for any person to shoot or hunt with a firearm or for hunters to traverse an area in possession of a loaded firearm within the town or within one hundred (100) yards of any residence or building within the town.”

We want to ensure our residents of Newsoms have a safe environment during this hunting season. We ask that everyone involved abide by our ordinance and assist us in keeping our town a safe place to live.
