NEWSOMS—Ophelia White Miles, 98, died Nov. 25, 2007.

Mrs. Miles was born in Aulander, N.C., a daughter of the late Charles Thomas and Emma Dale Liverman White.

She was predeceased by her husband, George Thomas Miles, her son, George Thomas Miles Jr., a sister, Elizabeth White Bazemore, and two brothers, Vernon and Wingate White.

She attended Chowan College and Wake Forest College, was retired as a bookkeeper for Miles Truck Line, and a former member of the Newsoms Woman’s Club.

She was a member of Newsoms Baptist Church, the Homemakers Class, and past president of the WMU.

Survivors include her brother, Benjamin Harvey White of Raleigh, N.C. and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was conducted Tuesday at Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms, with the Rev. Jason Wise officiating.
