William C. Hinton

HAMPTON—William C. Hinton died Oct. 26, 2007.

Mr. Hinton was the fourth of five children born to the late Houston and Mary L. Jones Hinton.

He retired honorably from the United States Army after 20 years of service.

He also served 20 years of civil service with the United States Department of the Air Force.

He was a member of the American Legion, Retired Armed Services Club and

C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors) Organization.

He was an active member of the New Life Mission A.M.E. Zion Church in Hampton.

Survivors include one sister, Mary Louise Hinton-Davis of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; one son, William C. Hinton Jr.; four daughters, the Rev. Vanessa D. Hinton of Carrollton, Renaye L. Hinton of Hampton, Anna Joyner of Smithfield and Clarissa Hinton of Hampton; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services was to be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Walters Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, 1406 Marshall Ave., Newport News.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the New Life Mission A.M.E. Zion Church Building Fund, 505 W. Queen St., Hampton, VA 23669.
