CARRSVILLE—Albert Herman Allen, 81, died Oct. 29, 2007.
Mr. Allen was born in Robeson County, N.C., a son of the late Roy Sam and Flowers Walters Allen. He was machine tender at # 3 paper machine with Union Camp Corporation for 37 years.
He was a sergeant in the Army during WWII, serving in the 30th Infantry Division in France and Germany, and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Alice Wills Allen; a daughter, Patricia Phelps and husband Rod of Franklin; one son, Larry A. Allen of Pickens, S. C.; daughter-in-law, Gail J. Allen of Windsor; three step-daughters, Brenda B. Rawls and husband Kilby of Windsor, Sandra B. Huband and husband David of Virginia Beach, Pat B. Mason and husband Ronnie of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Dave Allen and wife Stacy, Ben Phelps, Jennifer Rawls, Cheryl M. Drake and husband Eric, Kevin Rawls, Brent Mason and Tyler Huband; five great-grandchildren, Sean, Trevor, and Amanda Allen, Ethan Phelps, Brooklynn Drake; two sisters, Esther Rhodes of Burlington, N. C. and Winsome Smith and husband Homer of Gold Hill, N.C.; two brothers, Elliott Allen and wife, Elsie, of Atlanta, Ga. and Horace Allen and wife, Bobbie, of Fairmont, N. C; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Myrtle Allen, a daughter, Brenda Allen; a son, Jerry Allen, granddaughter, “Angel” Amy Phelps; one sister, Etta Brown Leggett, and one brother, Roy S. Allen.
A graveside service, with military honors, was held Thursday at Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Richard L. Peerey officiating.

Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, was in charge of arrangements.
