SMITHFIELD—Michael Prentice Brown, 70, died Oct. 30, 2007, in a Suffolk hospital.

Mr. Brown retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, Carrollton, and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Survivors include two daughters, Michelle L. Brown and husband Brian of Corapeake, N.C. and Terri B. Cumbia and husband Brad of Chesapeake; a sister, Dorothy Micheli of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren, Jake Brown and Brady Cumbia.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today in Faith Free Will Baptist Church by Pastor Barry Reel. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
