FRANKLIN—Franklin High School turned 359 yards rushing into a 48-0 victory over Nandua High School in a non-district football game Friday night at the Armory Drive Sports Complex.

Things started off badly for Nandua from the opening kickoff. Playing in a drizzling rain, the Warriors had a hard time fielding the opening kickoff and ended with the ball deep in their own territory. This was followed by a bad snap, sending the ball in the end zone, where the Broncos tackled the runner for a safety.

On the first Bronco possession, having good field position after the kick, Antonio Smith scored and the James Jervey extra point was good to put the Broncos up 9-0

early in the first quarter.

On the Bronco kickoff, the Warriors fumbled the ball again and the Broncos recovered. Franklin’s Isaiah Hudson crossed the goal line on a 10-yard run. James Jervey booted the ball through the uprights for the extra point to give Franklin a 16-0 lead.

On the next Bronco possession Charlie Keys powered a 9-yard run to put six more points on the board, but Jervey missed the extra point and the lead stayed at 22n0 in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Hudson scored again on a 13-yard run and Donzell Shearin failed on a two-point conversion. On another Warrior fumble, Bronco Daquan Clemons picked up the ball and raced 41 yards for a touchdown. Jervey added the extra point to advance the score to 35n0.

The Broncos weren’t finished and scored again with 1:09 remaining in the half on a 4-yard run by Malik Brown. Jervey added the extra point and the Broncos went to a dry locker room with a 42n0 lead.

In the second half, Bronco head coach Darren Parker substituted many of his players to give them playing experience. The Broncos scored once in the fourth quarter as Jeffrey Barrett recovered a Warrior fumble in the end zone. The Jervey kick was wide.

The Broncos’ defense held the Warriors to negative 63 yards and no first downs.

For Franklin, Charlie Keys rushed for 82 yards on 11 attempts and Hudson followed with 74 yards on 10 attempts.

The Broncos will return to Tri-Rivers District play at Sussex Central on Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
