John H. Singleton Jr.

SUFFOLK—John H. “Butch” Singleton Jr., 63, died Oct. 8, 2007, in his home.

A native of Tidewater, he retired after 20 years as a range master at A&P Arms outdoor shooting range in Virginia Beach.

Mr. Singleton was a Navy veteran and an avid surf fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, Pam Singleton; mother, Marjorie Barnes Singleton of Portsmouth; one daughter, Cristal Bass of Portsmouth and her mother, Sheila Singleton; one sister, Penny Craun of Zuni; one brother, Scott Singleton of Portsmouth; four stepdaughters, Chandra McPherson of Richmond, Beth Stamey of Graham, N.C., Yvette McAbee and Jenny Fruit, both of Chesapeake; and his longtime companion, Bear.

A memorial service was to be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by B.G. Campbell, minister.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Wildlife Federation, Back Bay Wildlife Refuge or the American Heart Association.
