Home of the free, but apparently not for all

To the Editor:
Pedro Zapeta, an illegal immigrant, from Guatemalia didn’t know he had to fill out a form declaring money he earned to US customs, before returning home. Eleven years he worked to save that money.
It’s a good thing he had pay stubs because officials tried to accuse him of being a drug dealer.
Customs seized HIS money. I call it, they STOLE his money.
We should be outraged over this. It could of happened to anyone.
Prosecutors wanted to make a deal; take $10,000, leave the county and don’t talk with the media. Is that a form of bribery? Doesn’t sound like justice to me, it sounds like someone wants to keep the cash.
This happened two years ago. Mr. Zapeta still doesn’t have his money.
A friend of mine wanted to buy a car last year. He had enough money to make a HUGE down payment in cash. I advised him not to take cash because he would be reported and accused of being a drug dealer. He wasn’t aware of that. Can you imagine what injustice would of taken place if he had taken cash?
America, home of the free; maybe to some, but sadly, not all.
