Lady Dukes take title

ISLE OF WIGHT—Windsor High School pitcher Tiffany Rapp was named the Tri-Rivers District’s Pitcher of Year after the Lady Dukes took the district title on Wednesday.
Windsor defeated Sussex 11-0 in five innings and advanced to the regional playoffs. The first game will be played against Essex High School at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, at Windsor High School.
Rapp was the winning pitcher for the title game, giving up 2 hits and striking out 11 of 17 batters.
Other Lady Dukes recognized after the game were Valarie Rapp as Player of the Year, who is Tiffany Rapp’s twin sister, and Judy Cahalen as Coach of the Year.
Named to the First Team All District were the Rapps, Taylor Gay, Chelsea Cahalen, Brittany Oliver and Brittany Stephens.
Named to the All Academic Team were both Rapps, Gay, Olive and Stephens.
During Wednesday’s game, Tiffany Rapp and Lauren Arrington hit triples for the Lady Dukes. Gay hit a double.
On Tuesday, the Lady Dukes played a perfect game against Charles City in the district playoffs. Tiffany Rapp pitched a no-hitter during the six-inning, 16-0 romp.
Cahalen’s assistant coach is Katie Callow. Both coaches are Windsor graduates.
