Supporting Hardison for clerk

To the Editor:

Citizens of Isle of Wight County, who are properly registered, will on Nov. 6, have the special privilege of casting their secret ballot at their respective polling places.

Away from the forums, visits, signs, conversations with neighbors and friends at local “gathering places” (the “pros” and “cons” for each candidate having been voiced over and over and over) we stare at a list of names for each respective office on the ballot. The moment of truth is at hand. What motivates us to pull a certain lever?

Let’s look at the race for Clerk of the Circuit Court for example. One candidate uses “job-related experience” as a prerequisite for favor. Over the years many “incumbents” have also used this tactic to leverage their position.

But when all is said and done, the results are far too often “more of the same” lacking a critical look at what “you” and “I” want and need from the position.

One candidate, Curtis Hardison, will bring a “fresh look” to the office of Clerk of the Circuit Court. His educational background, broad supervisory skills and innovative thinking bode well for all county residents.

His availability will be tailored to our needs and he has openly pledged to us all that one of his highest priorities is to be sure that every citizen who contacts the office will be treated in the same friendly, courteous and respectful manner that the judges are afforded. Curtis will “walk that extra mile” for all of us. He appreciates your support. Let’s put Curtis to work for us. Choose your lever — vote.
