If you could select another profession, what would you do? Either forensic science or veterinary medicine; both fascinate me

Why do you choose to live in Franklin/Southampton/Isle of Wight County? I choose to live in Southampton County because I’m a traditional farmer’s daughter, and I love the country. Also, I was born and raised here.

If you had two weeks vacation and money was no object, how would you spend your time? I would take all of my closest family and friends to Europe

Favorite food: Mimi’s (grandmother) or grandma’s fried chicken, mashed potatoes and garden peas

Favorite weekend destination: OBX, North Carolina

Favorite college sports team: USC Gamecocks baseball

What’s the best life lesson you’ve learned, and who taught you? You can do anything you put your mind to. My parents and my older sister

What’s the best decision you’ve made in life? Thus far, my best decision would have to be attending college and putting education first.

Which local charitable or non-profit organization do you wish more people would support? Volunteer fire departments - some municipalities would not have a fire service without those who are dedicated volunteers.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know. I completed a four-year accounting degree, as well as a minor in small business management, in just three years. I graduated this past May from Chowan University with honors.

What’s your hobby? I love photography.

If you could re-live one day of your life, which would it be and why? My college graduation because it was a very rewarding experience

What gives you the blues? The hard, stressful, tiring work of a farmer; and they don’t get the respect they deserve

What’s the most Southern thing you’ve ever done? Possum stomping and field parties

What’s your best childhood memory? My Mom, sister and me visiting Santa Claus, with all of my aunts and cousins, in Richmond at Miller & Rhodes/Thalheimers at 6th Street Market Place every year for almost 20 years

What frightens you most? Costume masks and spiders

If you could live anywhere else in the world, where would it be and why? the coast of California because the mountains meet the ocean and it’s gorgeous

Who’s your favorite ex-president? Franklin Delano Roosevelt, A.K.A. FDR, because he really brought this country out of the depression

If you could pass or change one law, what would it be? Ticket people driving under the speed limit in the acceleration (left) lane

What last brought tears to your eyes? Being with my Grandma at the Courtland HealthCare Center on her 73rd birthday

If you could invite three guests - living or dead, from anytime in history - to dinner, who would they be? I would invite Nandy (grandfather/deceased); Alex so that he could meet Nandy; and Elijah Davis (great-grandfather/deceased) because I would love to meet him.

What three objects would you take with you to a desert island? Water, hair tie, and a loaded gun for survival

What kind of music do you like, and who’s your favorite performer? I really like all kinds of music, country and rock being my favorites. My favorite performers would have to be the bands Silver Street (uncle’s band) and Adelyn (cousin’s band).

Who’s a famous athlete or entertainer you admire? I really admire Kenny Chesney and the songs he records.

Tell us about a good movie you’ve seen lately and why you liked it? “Fracture,” starring Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling. This was a really good crime drama. It portrays a very important life lesson: don’t think that you’re better than anyone else because someone will find your weakness and destroy you.

What’s the last book you read? I don’t read a lot, but probably “Tuesday’s with Morrie” by Mitch Albom

To whom are you grateful and why? I am grateful for my parents, grandparents, and God for bringing me into this world and giving me life. Also for providing for me and teaching me good morals and values
