Firefighters answer the call to #8216;fill the boot#8217; for charity

I would like to express thanks on behalf of all the members of the Franklin Professional Firefighters and Medics Association for another successful year of raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

This year we raised $3,588.49 for “Jerry’s Kids” locally, and professional firefighters nationwide raised a record $25 million for the MDA. Firefighters remain the largest contributor to that organization.

We would especially like to thank all of the area businesses that supported us this year, including Fred’s Restaurant, Phinn’s Restaurant, ACE Hardware, Dail’s Hardware, Don Pancho’s Mexican Restaurant, Wal-Mart, Virginia Coffee, Parker Drug Store, Johnson’s Auto Parts, The Tidewater News and Bank of America.

And of course we would like to thank all of the individual contributors who helped “Fill the Boot” once again this year.

Thank you and we look forward to being even more successful next year.
