SUFFOLK—Willie Raynor Deans, 74, died Sept. 4, 2007.
A native of Colerain, N.C., he was the son of the late Frank Raynor Deans and Florence Harrison Deans and was also predeceased by a grandson,
Frank R. Deans, Jr.
Willie initially retired as a Police Officer for the Suffolk Police Department, he later went on to serve as City of Suffolk Magistrate for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
He was a U. S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War.
He was affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Shirley Russell Deans of Suffolk; his daughter, Darlene Deans Brinkley and her husband Britt of Suffolk; his sons, Kenneth R. Deans, Frank Raynor Deans Sr. and wife Amy V. Deans of Windsor, and Andrew Deans of Suffolk and Bill Ray of Valdosa, Ga.; his grandchildren, Emma Brinkley, Russell Deans, Rachael Brinkley, Will Brinkley and Claudia Deans; and a sister, Florence Pope of Winton, N.C.
A funeral service will be held at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk on Friday
at 2 p.m. with Bishop James P. Council officiating.
Interment will be held at the Cypress Chapel Christian Church Cemetery with Military Honors.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday night from 7 to 8 p.m. and other times at the residence.
