COMO, N.C.—Lawrence Paul “Larry” Lasson, 59, passed away September 23, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Larry was born in Steubenville, Ohio, and was predeceased by his father, Steve Vince Lasson, and a sister, Stephanie J. Lasson.

Larry attended the Air Force Academy and was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degree in music.

Larry was a former violinist for the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, and while in Nashville, did studio work for various recording artists.

He was a former music professor at Old Dominion University. In recent years he was most instrumental in supporting Judy in her business as an independent beauty consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics and with the Murfreesboro, N.C, Chamber of Commerce with his expert photography and computer skills.

Left to cherish his memory are his fiancé, Judy Matthews Hachey of Como; his mother, Jane M. Lasson of Steubenville, Ohio; a sister, Susan L. Shalton (Steve) of Winter Springs, Fla.; a niece, Heather Hansen; two great-nieces, Abigail and Caitlin Hansen, all of Virginia Beach; his goddaughter, Haley E. Drake; and numerous cousins, friends and his aunt, Katie Gill, of Wierton, W.Va.

Judy would like to thank Sarah Worrell, Kaye and Timmy Drake, Jimmy Drake and Jean Matthews as well as the many other friends for their continued love and support during Larry’s illness.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011, at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, Va., with the Rev. Darwin Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Southampton Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, September 30, 2011, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and suggests memorials be made to Barnes United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society or Murfreesboro, NC Chamber of Commerce. www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
