SMITHFIELD—Cora B. Pittman Babb, 94, died

Aug. 17, 2007 in Riverside Convalescent Center.

A native of Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late Charkoe Henson and Nannie Mae Johnnson Pittman.

Mrs. Babb retired from Louise Obici Memorial Hospital where she worked as a nurse’s aide. She was also a member of Ivor Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by her husband, Levy Brown and husband, Milton Babb, and daughter Mildred Atkins, survivors include two children, her daughter, Frances Harris Graham and her husband John and her son, James W. “Jim” Brown and his wife Gayle, all of Smithfield; five grandchildren, Donald P. Horne, Mike Brown, Cathy Hurd, Charlie Brown and Russ Brown; and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was conducted Monday at Mill Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, Ivor, with Dr. Donald R. Rhoton officiating.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 97, Smithfield, VA 23431 or to Smithfield Baptist Church, 100 Wainwright Drive, Smithfield, VA 23430.

The family wishes to thank Martha Hunt and Deborah Boyd and their staff at Magnolia Manor and Riverside Convalescent for their love, care and support for Mrs. Babb.
