FRANKLIN—Roberta Scott &uot;Berta Gay,&uot; 89, of the 300 block of

Edwards Street, died Aug. 1, 2007, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

A native of Southampton County, she retired from A.L. Duck Packing Co. in 1975 after 30 years.

She was a member of First Baptist Church Burdette, its usher board, and was the widow of Walter Gay Sr.

Survivors include a daughter, Elnora Boykins of Franklin; four sons, Walter H. Gay Jr. (Yvonne) of Zuni, Larry Gay of Franklin, Lorenzo Gay (Vergie) of Boykins and Michael Gay of Franklin; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral was conducted by Pastor Terrance Johnson Monday in Full Gospel Kingdom Church, Carrsville Highway.

Interment followed in Southview Cemetery.

Elvin Vaughan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
