MURPHY, N.C.—Rush Walton Bondurant, 75, died July 28, 2007, at his residence.

He was a native of Norfolk, but grew up in Williamston, N.C., and retired to Murphy, where he lived the last 10 years.

Mr. Bondurant was the son of the late Rush Walton and Gladys Virginia Coburn Bondurant.

He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard serving in the Korean War.

He was a graduate of North Carolina State University with a BS degree in chemical engineering.

He had a long and successful career in the paper industry and retired from International Paper. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary Carolyn Leggett Bondurant; daughters, Carolyn B. Miller and husband Ralph of Clemmons, N.C., Betty Myers and husband Dave of St. Simons Island, Ga. and Tish Fasola of Marietta, Ga.; stepsister, Julia McLawhorn of Greenville,

N.C.; stepbrother, Edward Laughinghouse of Taylors,

S.C.; nine grandchidren and a great-grandson.

Memorial services were held July 29 at Harshaw Chapel with the Rev. George Yates officiating.

Another memorial service was held Wednesday at Biggs Funeral Home Chapel in Williamston.

Inurnment followed in Woodlawn Cemetery.
