Arlyne P. Derringe

WILLIAMSBURG—Arlyne Marie Peterson Derringe, 82, died July 22, 2007 in her home.
Mrs. Derringe was born on the Peterson farm near Wausa, Neb., Feb. 18, 1925. She and her late husband, Edmund T. Derringe Sr., moved to Virginia 60 years ago. They enjoyed living several years in Norfolk where Mr. Derringe played and coached football, before moving to Williamsburg where he accepted a position in the athletic department at the College of William and Mary.
She was employed by the Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce and retired from Colonial Williamsburg. She served as a volunteer for Williamsburg Community Hospital and for the Williamsburg Regional Library. She loved playing bridge and outings with the “lunch bunch.” She was a strong supporter of Tribe athletics.
Survivors include three sons, Edmund T. Jr. and wife Gayle of Evansville, Ind., Michael of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Eric and wife Kristen and their children, Drake and Madelyn of Evansville; three daughters, Diane and husband Dr. Frank Romano of Franklin,and their children Peter, Christina, Katherine and John, Renie and husband Gary Boehm of Folly Beach,
S.C., and Jennifer and husband Robert Hatcher Jr. of Richmond; a sister, Ruth Banks of Wausa, Neb. and a brother, Bob Peterson of Sun City, Ariz.; and many dear friends.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at Catholic Campus Ministry Chapel, 500 Richmond Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Edmund T. Derringe Varsity Athlete Scholarship Endowment, College of William & Mary, P.O. Box 399 Williamsburg, VA 23187, or Hospice House, 4445 Powhatan Parkway, Williamsburg, VA 23188.
