Michael D. Laster

SUFFOLK—Michael “Slant” David Laster, 33, died July 16, 2007.

Mr. Laster was a native of Norfolk, born Aug. 13, 1973. He was a ski instructor at Snowshoe, W.Va., and worked at the Firefox restaurant in the winter. In the past, his love of the water and surfing brought him back to the Outer Banks where he lived with his grandmother during the summers.

During those summers, he was employed at many fine restaurants such as Queen Anne’s Revenge, Crackers and the Weeping Radish.

Survivors include his two beautiful daughters, Audrey Laster, 5 and Cassady Laster, 4 and their mother, Allison Adams, all of Charlotte, N.C.; his mother, Evon Hughes of Suffolk; father, David E. Laster and

wife Helen of Smithfield; grandmother, Peggy Saier of Wanchese, N.C.; sister, Stephanie Marie Laster; niece, Dakota Lane Wilkinson, both of Portsmouth; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members.

He was a lover of life and made many friends and will be missed by many. To all his friends, ski and surf on.

A graveside funeral was held Monday by the Rev. W. Thomas Wood in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk.
