Wayland H. Council

IVOR—Wayland Hart Council, 82, a lifelong resident of Ivor, died July 18, 2007 at his home.

Mr. Council was born March 27, 1925 in Southampton County he was a son of the late Benjamin A. Council and Eulala Horne Council.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Frances Elizabeth Wade Council; a son, Wayland Hart Council Jr. and wife Susan of Franklin; two grandsons, Brandon and Ryan Council; and one sister, Edith C. Cobb of Ivor.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Emerson and Alton Council.

He was a member of the Tucker Swamp Baptist Church and a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army.

He was a former member of the Ivor Hunt Club.

He was a retired employee of the Smithfield Packing Company and a retired homebuilder and farmer.

Funeral services will be held in the Purviance Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wakefield, on today at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Steve Gupton officiating.

Interment will follow in Tucker Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, Zuni.

The family will receive friends at the residence.
