Alice L. Hingerty

SUFFOLK—Alice Wilmoth Laine Hingerty, 93, a resident of Suffolk, died July 12, 2007, in a Hopewell hospital.

She was predeceased by her husband of more than 70 years, Alfred C. Hingerty Jr.

Mrs. Hingerty was born Aug. 31, 1913, in Isle of Wight County. She was a homemaker, a lifelong member of Bethlehem Christian Church, Suffolk and a member of the Women’s Missionary Society of the church.

She was devoted to her family and was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved reading, gardening, and bird watching.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Laine Crider and Edith Laine Dowling and two brothers, William Elliott Laine and Elliott Russell Laine.

Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn H. Dundalow of Waverly; a son, Alfred E. Hingerty of Riverview, Fla.; two granddaughters, Susan H. Easom and husband the Rev. Wesley Easom and Katie Alice Hingerty, all of Atlanta; two grandsons, David Thomas Dundalow and the Rev. Jonathan Alfred Dundalow and wife Cindy, all of Dinwiddie; two great-grandsons, Morgan Thomas Dundalow and Timothy Edward Dundalow; two nieces, Anne Yeoman of Sperryville and Connie Henderson of Carrollton; seven nephews, Col. Elliott Russell Laine Jr. of Springfield, Herbert Watkins Laine of Chesapeake, Elliott Gwaltney Laine of Newport News, William Elliott Laine Jr. of Smithfield, Harry Filmore Dowling Jr. of Towson, Md., Dr. John Nelson Dowling of Pittsburgh and William Laine Dowling of Bellingham, Wash.

The funeral was be held at the Purviance Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wakefield, Monday.

Interment followed in Holly Lawn Cemetery in Suffolk.
