SUFFOLK—Janet S. Ashburn, 74, died in her home July 13, 2007.

Mrs. Ashburn, a native of Whaleyville, was the daughter of the late James Henry and Bernice Smith.

She was a member of Western Branch Baptist Church, The Ruth Bible Class and a charter member of the Kings Fork Woman’s Club.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas J. Ashburn Jr.; her daughter and husband, Theresa A. Provost and Leonard of Suffolk; her son and wife, Bobby Ashburn and Debbie of Suffolk; grandchildren, Carolyn Ferraro and husband Mike of Chesterfield, Jeff Griffin and wife Amanda, Wade Ashburn and Brian Ashburn, all of Suffolk; great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Ruth Ferrraro of Chesterfield; sister, Rita Stubbs and husband George of Windsor; nieces, Angie Smith of Suffolk and Julie Galinas of Prince William County.

A funeral was conducted Monday in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory by the Rev. B.C. Akers.
