To the Editor:

For the lady who complained about the golf carts (“Golf carts at IOW Fair need to go,” Sept. 28), did it occur to you that the staff-only gates were for “staff only”?

Just because your husband volunteered does not mean you were allowed to traipse through the “staff-only” gates. It’s an insurance issue, safety reasons.

Maybe next time you need to wear your “I’m special” pin. Maybe you are an only child, never played with others.

And if the staff wasn’t friendly, maybe because you were in the way of emptying trash cans or finding a lost child’s parent. Next time, stay home, or volunteer and see how easy it is to take care of a crowd that size.

Your husband volunteering just lost credibility because you were “interrogated” for not belonging where you needed to be. It’s not about you; it’s about the kids and fond memories.
