SUFFOLK—Joseph Stokes and the late Vernice Stokes of Suffolk are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Angelia Marie Smith, to David Leon Cardwell.

Smith is the granddaughter of the late Alexander and Rosa “Tea” Wiggins.

She is employed at Goodwill Industries, Roanoke, and enrolled at Virginia Western College as a human services major.

Cardwell is the son of the late Lillian Mae Cardwell and the grandson of Pearl Elizabeth Cardwell Anderson of Roanoke.

The couple will wed May 26 at Morning Star Baptist Church, Roanoke.
