WINDSOR — A Suffolk man and a Portsmouth couple may have lost their appetite for steak after being arrested for grand larceny by Isle of Wight deputies for allegedly stealing hundreds of dollars worth of meat Thursday night.

According to Sgt. M.R. Kitchen of the Isle of Wight Sheriff’s office, three people entered the Food Lion in Windsor around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and left with 27 steaks, neglecting to pay for them.

Deputy Parker Jernigan responded to the grocery store and, with assistance from the Suffolk Police Department, located the van the trio had driven.

The following people were arrested:

• Kendall D. Richardson, 31, of Halifax Street, Suffolk, was charged with grand larceny. He had been out of jail on bond for another larceny charge.

• Calvin E. Clarke Jr., of Boat Street, Portsmouth, was arrested on a grand larceny charge, second or subsequent offense. Suffolk police were holding six felony warrants for him.

• Sonya Clements, 36, of Darby Close, Portsmouth, was charged with grand larceny.

Kitchen said Richardson and Clarke were remanded to Western Tidewater Regional Jail with no bond. Clements was jailed on a $500 bond.
