Emily R. Francis

Capron – Emily Rose Francis, 84, widow of Herbert Wallace “Puddin” Francis died Monday, August 9, 2010 at the East Pavilion. She was born in Roanoke Rapids, NC and reared in Emporia, a daughter of the late James Blount and Alma Powell Rose. She was a beautician and a member of Capron United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth F. Hines and husband, Tripp of Richmond; three sons, H. Wallace Francis, Jr., of Kitty Hawk, NC, James Arnold Francis and wife, June, of Gloucester, and Walter Johnson Francis and wife, Allison, of Capron; nine grandchildren, Keith Hines, Meade Craun, Michael Francis, Shannon Carden, Kristin Rogers, Carolyn Quivers, Hattie Francis, Clara Francis, and Walter Francis, Jr.; and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Francis was predeceased by a grandson, Bret Hines, a daughter-in-law, Becky C. Francis, and three brothers, George Meade Rose, J. B. Rose, and Edward Rose.

A funeral will be conducted at 10 am Thursday, August 12, at the Capron United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steven Vornov officiating. Interment will follow in Capron Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Walter and Allison Francis, 23081 Meadow Street, Capron, and suggest that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Capron United Methodist Church, c/o Kay Pope, 16208 Old Belfield Road, Capron, Va. 23829 or Capron Rescue Squad, P.
