Edward Bynum Sr.

Edward Bradley Bynum, Sr., “Capt. Slide”, 54, of the 600 block of Laurel Street, Franklin, VA, died on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was a native of Southampton County and was a 1974 graduate of Southampton High School. He was previously employed at Newport News Shipbuilding/Northrop Grumman and was currently employed at Colonna’s Shipyard in Norfolk.
Survivors include his daughter, Jamica A. Worrell of Norfolk; his son, Edward B. Bynum, Jr. of Franklin; his companion, Betty J. Grant of Franklin; his father, Edward D. Bynum of Newsoms; two brothers, Marvin E. Bynum of Franklin and Michael A. Bynum of Portsmouth; one sister, Katina M. Bynum of Newsoms; three grandchildren: Niya, Shad and Shamir; six aunts, three uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 25 at 3:00pm at White Oak Spring Missionary Baptist Church, 26125 Delaware Road in Franklin. Burial will follow at the Bright Lilly Church Cemetery in Newsoms. The family will be receiving friends at 28064 Sunbeam Road, Newsoms. A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M.
